Wow! Becky and I couldn't come up with enough positive adjectives to describe the weekend we spent at Smart Design Mart in the Mile End neighbourhood of Montreal. Inspiring, creative, fun, friendly, exciting, and rewarding are just a few of them! While we love the freedom and flexibility we have by running on online business, it was wonderful to meet our customers face to face for a change.
We met many lovely people and sold many items. We both crossed a few names off of our respective Christmas shopping lists with gorgeous items from our fellow exhibitors, such as: photographer Jane Heller, Au coeur de la laine repurposed wool goods, and our charming neighbour at the show, Julie Duguay's ceramics.
Her beautiful cups, oil dispensers, and bowls are simply gorgeous! We also picked up one treat each for ourselves from Broundoor recycled leather goods, and Blisscraft and Brazen. Yay!
It was thrilling and a little sad somehow when we sold a baby quilt that Becky only finished on Saturday. She hand-stitched the binding during breaks in the action, and one of the many people who stopped to admire it Saturday afternoon came back for it on Sunday.
The mom-to-be is a real sweetheart who fell for the quilt's sweet simplicity and said she loved that the quilt is gender-neutral, organic, and backed with soft flannel.
Sadly, my pictures don't do it justice. But I'll see if I can't get Becky to make another one so we can have a little more time with it, or at least take some good shots of it before someone snaps it right up!
Well done OGQ. Glad you had a great time & I hope I am on your gift list....what? it's not too late!
